Game Watch Party Resource Guide
What is a Game Watch Party?
A game watch party is exactly what it sounds like — a chance for Hokies to come together and cheer on Virginia Tech! As a Regional Engagement Signature Program, game watch events unite alumni and friends around football, basketball, and more. It's a fun, spirited way to stay connected to Virginia Tech throughout the year.
Key Details
- Chapter participation: The game watch program officially begins each year with football. Chapters submit plans to host parties for select games throughout the season.
- Game watch swag: Chapters that commit to hosting events will receive free swag — distributed on a first come, first served basis while supplies last.
Promotion
- Game watch website and emails: Events submitted through the sign-up form will be featured on the game watch website, chapter websites, and promoted via regional emails.
- Game watch deadlines: Chapters must meet promotion deadlines shared in the Digest. Late submissions may miss out on email promotion.
- Self promotion Chapters are strongly encouraged to use their own social media platforms to promote events locally.
Registration
- Universal registration: Chapters will receive a universal registration link and QR code to collect RSVPs throughout the season. Check with program liaison for latest links and QR code.
- On-site sign in: Post the QR code at your event or collect attendee names and email addresses manually. After the event, send a photo of your sign-in sheet to your liaison for tracking.
- Prizes: Hokies register just once during the season and are entered in a chance to win a Hokie grab bag at the end of the year!
Host Location
- Typical venues: Most chapters host their parties at ADA compliant local bars or breweries – and many establish a “home” venue for the season.
- Multiple locations: Chapters with wide geographic reach may host in more than one spot – we’ll help promote them all!
- Venue guidelines: You can host wherever works best for your chapter, as long as the space is ADA-compliant and not affiliated with a religious or political organization.
