Remembrance Activities Resource Guide
What is Run in Remembrance?
Run in Remembrance is a 3.2-mile walk/run to honor and remember the 32 Hokies whose lives were tragically lost April 16, 2007. Each year, thousands of Hokies around the world come together in reflection, unity, and remembrance. Alumni chapters are encouraged to host their own 3.2 for 32 events while the Virginia Tech community gathers in Blacksburg for the official Day of Remembrance.
Timing
- April is preferred. The on-campus Run in Remembrance takes place in April to align with events held on campus.
- Outside of April? That’s okay too. Chapters may host events earlier or later in the spring. Your program liaison will help with adjusted communications and planning timelines.
Event registration and promotion
- Chapters will submit their Run in Remembrance event details using the form provided by the Regional Engagement Team.
- Once submitted, the Regional Engagement Team will create a chapter-specific central event registration link.
- The event will be promoted through regional emails and shared on the Run in Remembrance website.
- Run in Remembrance events are free to attend. Chapters may not charge a registration fee or collect gifts associated with this program.
