Cornerstone Chat: Cryptocurrency and Investment Scams

Join Carmen Clifford, training and outreach coordinator with the Virginia State Corporation Commission, for an in-depth discussion on investment scams. Topics include cryptocurrency fraud, pig butchering scams, how to determine if businesses are registered in Virginia, and common red flags in investment contracts.
The program is free to attend, but registration is required. An optional gift to the Department of Sociology Workshop Fund is encouraged upon registration. This fund supports the outreach work and scam prevention workshops of Katalin Parti, associate professor of sociology at Virginia Tech. Parti's research focuses on the offender and victim sides of cybercrime, sexual violence, and online manipulative scams targeting older adults.
