Cornerstone Alumni is hosting service events to take part in the annual Big Event tradition.
Cornerstone Big Event for Regional Seniors
- Date: Thursday, April 9
- Time: Noon-2 p.m.
- Location: The Span Center, 1300 Semmes Ave., Richmond, VA 23224
- Cost: Registration is free, but required. Registrants can make an optional gift to the Student Emergency Fund. This fund is used to support students who find themselves in immediate financial need, due to no fault of their own.
- Details: Virginia Tech alumni of all graduation years as well as friends, family, and fans are invited to join us for our Big Event service project. We will be assembling emergency kits to be distributed to regional seniors prior to an anticipated disaster or weather-related emergency. Lunch and refreshments will be provided, as well as a tour of the facility and overview of their services. The Span Center has ample and accessible free parking.
Cornerstone Big Event for Star City Veterans
- Date: Saturday, March 28
- Time: 10 a.m.-noon
- Location: Davis & McDaniel Veterans Care Center, 4550 Shenandoah Ave. NW, Roanoke, VA 24017
- Cost: Registration is free, but required. Registrants can make an optional gift to the Commandant's Priorities Fund at Virginia Tech. This fund is used to support cadet activities and programming.
- Details: In the spirit of celebrating our nation's 250th anniversary, join us as we dedicate our annual service project to veterans residing in the Star City! The Corps of Cadets, Cornerstone Alumni, members of the Roanoke Valley and New River Valley chapters, and friends of Virginia Tech are invited to participate. We will be visiting with veterans residing in the facility's long-term and memory care spaces. Participants will present veterans with U.S. flags and flowers (provided by Virginia Tech), smiles, lively conversations, and gratitude for their service.
