Feb. 17-April 2
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:15 a.m.-noon
Blacksburg Community Center
725 Patrick Henry Drive, Blacksburg, VA 24060

Classes are free to attend with in-person and virtual options. Each class is limited to 12 participants. An optional gift can be made at checkout to support Virginia Tech's Engagement Center for Creative Aging (ECCA) for in-person attendance or to the Adaptive Brain and Behavior Minor fund for virtual attendance.

The Mindful Movement Program features gentle movements from the arts of Tai Chi and Qigong suitable for participants of all ages and is designed to support maintenance of balance and range of motion, while enhancing participants' sense of well-being. The program is modifiable for those with mobility limitations and can be done seated or standing.

The program is led by Matthew F. Komelski, director of the Adaptive Brain and Behavior Minor, and his students. Komelski teaches mind-body health and designs mindful movement programs for community health and veteran’s organizations in the New River Valley and Roanoke regions.

Classes are held each Tuesday and Thursday from 11:15 a.m.-noon, beginning Tuesday, Feb. 17 and running until Thursday, April 2. No classes are offered Tuesday, March 10 or Thursday, March 12, as the university will be closed for spring break.

We will be working with the Town of Blacksburg to ensure driveways and walkways are safe to navigate in case of snow and/or icy conditions. In the event of inclement weather, we will provide at least 24 hours advance cancellation notice.
