TALKING POINTS

How to talk about the importance of giving back and staying involved

We want to make sure young alumni volunteers have what they need to talk to fellow Hokies about why being an active alum is important. Take a look at these talking points.

Why get involved with a young alumni committee?

Volunteering with a young alumni committee doesn't take much time and helps you meet other Hokies in your area. It's also a way to stay connected to your alma mater so you know all the latest news and information. Alumni are an important voice in the Virginia Tech community — make sure you don't miss out.

Why give back to Virginia Tech?

Hokies support what's important to them. The memories you created, the friends you made, what you learned — matters. Make a gift to support Virginia Tech so that those experiences are there for future Hokies. All gifts matter, including the smaller ones. Gifts of $5 or added up to XX million last fiscal year. Hokies giving together makes a difference.

How does attending an event help Virginia Tech?

Attending an alumni event is fun and builds community — but a portion of nearly all event registrations also include a gift to the university. By showing up and having fun, you're giving back.
