Advancement Regional Program

The Regional Engagement program connects Hokies where they live, work, and play. Through events and volunteer-led initiatives, we build vibrant communities for alumni, students, families, and friends to learn, serve, and celebrate together. Join us in strengthening the Virginia Tech experience — wherever you are.

Ready to get involved? Explore volunteer opportunities in your region and become part of a community that’s committed to building a better future grounded in Ut Prosim (That I May Serve).

Alumni Chapter Program

Alumni chapters bring the Hokie Spirit to life in communities around the world. Led by passionate volunteers, these groups host events, support local students, and foster meaningful connections among Virginia Tech alumni, families, and friends.

Whether you’re cheering on the Hokies, giving back through service, or networking with fellow graduates, alumni chapters offer an easy and fun way to stay engaged with Virginia Tech — no matter where life takes you.

Requirements, tiers, and liaison support

As separate, affiliated organizations, Alumni chapters are tiered by alumni population size and work in close alignment with Virginia Tech Advancement to support the university’s and Advancement's mission, values, goals, and priorities.

These volunteer-led groups serve as ambassadors for Virginia Tech in their communities, helping to strengthen connection, pride, and service among Hokies worldwide.

Each chapter follows clear expectations for events, communication, and leadership and is supported by a regional liaison who provides resources and guidance. This structure empowers chapters to build strong local networks and extend the university’s impact through meaningful engagement rooted in Ut Prosim (That I May Serve).
