Alumni chapters across the country are hosting service events in their communities to take part in the annual Big Event tradition.

Details: Join us for our beach cleanup at Canova Dog Beach! We will be picking up garbage from our beautiful oceanfront. We will be going out as a group after for lunch, location is to be determined but food and drink will be available for purchase! Register here by Saturday, March 29.

Details: The Charleston Hokies will be working with East Cooper Habitat for Humanity to volunteer at their Society Road build site in McClellanville. H4H will provide a link to sign up for the specific volunteer block at a later date. All volunteers are required to wear closed toed shoes and complete a waiver. Waivers can be printed out, signed, and brought with you day of. They will be provided in the coming days. Please also register here.

Details: Every year since 1992, thousands of volunteers have come together on Chicago River Day to remove litter and care for river-adjacent lands. Details: We will be packing up items for communities in need. Pre-register at m25m.org/volunteer-registration/. Our group name is Virginia Tech Alumni. If you've volunteered previously at M25M, bring your ID card. If you're new to M25M, please arrive 15 minutes early to have an ID printed. Please wear Hokie attire so we can find each other! Details: Join D.C. Hokies to clean up Rolling Valley West Park! Hokies of all ages are welcome to help. We will meet in the parking lot by the basketball court. Once we all meet as a group, we will divide and conquer cleaning the park. Trash bags, gloves and bottles of water will be provided. Register here!

Location: Newark Spring Community Clean Up (exact location to come)
Details: The First State Hokies will be participating in the Newark Spring Community Clean Up, held in conjunction with the Christina River Watershed Clean Up. Grab your family and come make Newark beautiful. We will be removing litter from local roadways, parks, and trails. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gloves, wear closed-toe shoes, and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Gloves and trash bags are provided. Children ages five and up are welcome, but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Volunteers ages 14 and over may volunteer independently. Details: The Fredericksburg Alumni Chapter will be holding a supply drive at a local grocery store for S.E.R.V.E. S.E.R.V.E has been helping the communities of Caroline, Fredericksburg, Stafford, and Spotsylvania since 1979. Details: We will be preparing and serving dinner at the SECU Family House, a low cost residential option for patients receiving treatment at nearby Winston-Salem hospitals. Two two-hour shifts will be available for volunteers. The shift will include preparing a meal, then serving it to patients and their families. We have also donated paper goods and supplies to keep the kitchen stocked with essential needs. Register here and then contact one of the two people below!

Details: The chapter will be sorting clothing donations with Cradles to Crayons at the Giving Factory. We will be checking, sorting, packing, and preparing the clothing for kids in the Boston Metro Area. Please register through Virginia Tech here and also through Cradles and Crayons.

Details: We will be volunteering at Harvest Hope Food Bank. Show your Hokie Spirit and wear a Big Event shirt or maroon and orange. Please also make sure you wear closed-toed shoes. Details: For 18 years the Shenandoah Chapter has held a local Memorial Blood Drive in coordination with the American Red Cross and in partnership with Chick-fil-A Pleasant Valley. Details: The Tidewater Hokies will be participating in the Owls Creek Cleanup with the Virginia Aquarium.
