Join Us on February 1, 2006 for Virginia Tech's Hokie Day in Richmond
We have set the date for our 8th Annual Hokie Day in the General Assembly, which provides an excellent opportunity for Virginia Tech alumni to visit their local members of the Virginia House of Delegates and Virginia Senate. If possible, please join us in Richmond on Wednesday, February 1, to meet with your legislators and voice support for Virginia Tech.
The day will begin with a continental breakfast at 8:30 a.m. at the SunTrust Bank at 919 East Main Street on the 24th floor. If you can join us on the 1st, please contact Betty Lee in our Richmond office at 804-786-8111 or bettylee@vt.edu. Betty can provide specific directions to SunTrust Bank. We will brief you on specific Virginia Tech priorities when everyone is gathered that morning and provide an outline of the major points to emphasize in your visits with legislators. The issues relative to the legislative landscape come into better focus in the session's early weeks, so we will have the latest information. After the visits, we return to SunTrust Bank for a debriefing discussion and lunch.
Several years ago, our Hokies for Higher Education program was re-energized in support of the successful Bond Referendum. Since then, our visits with legislators have been extremely beneficial to secure operating and capital outlay funding for Tech, as well as support for "restructuring" of administrative policies and practices. This year's day of alumni visits will be equally important to help Virginia Tech. Please make every effort to join us on February 1st.
Sincerely,
Thomas C. Tillar, Jr.
