FAQs

What is the Senior Class Gift Campaign?

Seniors are encouraged to make a gift to the university. It's the first step to becoming an involved alum and a way for your class to leave a legacy. All seniors are encouraged to give $25 or more to commemorate your graduation year, or a monthly recurring gift of $5.

Why should I give?

It's an easy way to show your love and appreciation for Virginia Tech by giving back and paying it forward. A gift to Virginia Tech makes a difference in the lives of all current and future Hokies! By giving, you are showing your belief in the success of Virginia Tech, and saying thanks for all it has done for you.

Where does my gift go?

The power of philanthropy is in your hands. Designate your gift to an area of Virginia Tech that you are passionate about: your student organization, in honor of a faculty member, your favorite athletics team, your academic department, the libraries, financial aid, and the list goes on and on! You get to choose what to support.

Why does my gift matter?

Student and alumni participation in annual giving is a valuable measure of Hokie pride and satisfaction. It also plays a role in the university rankings, and gifts provide the university with important financial support. Whatever you can give matters. Together small gifts have a tremendous impact.

What about tuition?

Tuition and fees only support a portion of the educational costs. They count for about two-thirds of the cost of a college education. The rest is from state support and other sources. Gifts help make our university stronger and make college more affordable for Hokies by allowing Virginia Tech to offer incoming students scholarships.

What is our goal?

We want 3,600 seniors to make a gift. We hope this gift is the first step to a lifetime of alumni involvement and giving.

How much should I give?

We recommend a gift of $25 to honor your senior class. But whether it’s $5 or $500, every gift counts! You can also make recurring gifts (as low as $5) and become part of the Pylon Society.

Made your gift but haven't received your cord or mug?

Dates and times for cord and mug pickup are being planned for the 2024-2025 Academic Year. Check the @vtclassof25 Instagram for updates or contact studentgiving@vt.edu. We are unable to ship these items.

What are the giving records?

The Class of 2024 exceeded expectations with over 3,700 seniors giving their Senior Class Gift, totaling 48 percent of the entire class. While many donors chose to give $5, the average gift size for all donors was $24.

How do I become involved in the Senior Class Gift Committee?

What about after we graduate?

Graduation isn't the end of your journey with Virginia Tech, just an important milestone. Making a gift is just the begninning of being involved in the alumni community. Learn how to stay involved.
