Get Involved

Volunteers play a critical role in making our Alumni Weekend a success. As volunteers, you can give input on reunion programming and get advance details about what’s being planned. We need your help!

We count on volunteers to serve as ambassadors for the event by contacting classmates and encouraging them to attend.

Learn more about how to join a class committee below. If you have additional questions, don’t hesitate to contact us at reunion@vt.edu.

Volunteer FAQs

Reunion volunteers are critical to the success of the event! As a volunteer, we need you to help inform and encourage your classmates to attend and connect. We also want your input on the event schedule and to help explore opportunities to make it a truly special event. Volunteers are truly alumni ambassadors!

Volunteer committees meet about once per month starting in January and going through June before the reunion. These hour-long meetings allow committee members to connect, discuss progress, offer suggestions, and collaborate. Your level of involvement depends on your schedule. Leveraging your Hokie social network is also helpful!

During Alumni Weekend in June, come to campus and have fun! We do not ask for volunteers to manage registration tables, take out trash, guide traffic, or any other logistical needs. Just be ready to reconnect with classmates and have fun. However, if you are interested in getting involved with day-of logistics, let us know!

In addition to using your own social networks and connections, we offer a volunteer roster to help reach out to classmates. Classes have individual Facebook groups that can be used by volunteers to help keep classmates connected and updated about Alumni Weekend. Virginia Tech will be advertising and promoting Alumni Weekend through email, social media, and printed materials that can all be used to aid in your organization efforts.

Making a gift to Virginia Tech is important to the continued success and advancement of the university. We ask that all volunteers make a personally meaningful gift in honor of your milestone reunion to support your class giving goals.

Class volunteer committees are made up of alumni celebrating an anniversary. Any alumni celebrating a milestone reunion (5th-50th) and are passionate about bringing classmates and friends together for a weekend of fun in Blacksburg are encouraged to join a volunteer committee. If you are an active alumni or were an involved student and are celebrating an upcoming class milestone anniversary, please reach out to us to get involved!

We’re excited about your interest in Alumni Weekend. We don’t have class volunteer committees for alumni not celebrating a milestone. However, we do have a standing alumni ambassador group for those who have already attended the weekend and are advocates of the program. If you are interested in joining this group, please email reunion@vt.edu.
