FAQs
We're here to answer all your Reunion Weekend questions. Check out the FAQs below.
Who is the Alumni Weekend for?
All Hokies! We’re celebrating milestone class anniversaries (fifth through the 50th), but all Hokies (and their families) are welcome.
The fun will begin early for our Cornerstone Alumni (1976 and earlier) with special programing just for them!
What does my registration fee include?
Registration includes access to all scheduled events, including tours and lectures, plus meals, happy hours, and drinks. When you sign up the weekend is all inclusive. We’ll handle the fun, food, and more.
What if I need to cancel my plans after I’ve registered?
Please see our event cancellations policy for details. Your registration fee is refundable, but your gift is not. Five dollars of each adult registration is a gift to the Virginia Tech Annual Fund, which directs support to students and areas of the university most in need.
Can I park on campus?
Yes! You will be able to pick up a parking pass when you check in at the Holtzman Alumni Center. Ample parking spaces are available in June.
Is there a shuttle or transportation for the event?
Attendees may take advantage of our Alumni Weekend Shuttle. This ADA accessible shuttle will run a set route around campus on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with stops near the action. A shuttle stop map is included on the printed program schedule you receive at check-in. Golf carts will also be available throughout the weekend to assist guests. If you have specific concerns regarding on-campus transportation, please reach out directly to Kelly Wimmer at 540-231-2804 or ktwimmer@vt.edu. She will work to assist you prior to arrival.
A summertime Alumni Weekend? Is this new?
We held our first summertime reunion in 2018. We edited our approach to reunions in 2018 to provide a better experience for all Hokies. This rapidly growing tradition is an opportunity for all alumni to celebrate and experience campus, in addition to those reuniting for a milestone anniversary. 2025 was our biggest event yet! We encourage you to get a taste of what last year's program had to offer and view photos from the fun.
What about the 50th Reunion, specialty reunions, and college tailgates? Does this change those events?
The class of 1976 is celebrating their 50th reunion this year at Alumni Weekend! Once a class celebrates their 50th reunion they become Cornerstone Alumni. This is a group of our most passionate and loyal alumni who represent the foundation of our university.
College tailgates and Homecoming are not affected and alumni affinity groups and organizations are invited to celebrate milestones during Alumni Weekend. For more information, please contact reunion@vt.edu.
What about student and alumni organizations?
A key part of Alumni Weekend is being accessible for organizations who would like to partner with us and celebrate during the weekend. Please contact reunion@vt.edu to learn more about collaboration opportunities.
How can I get involved?
Glad you asked! We're always looking for volunteers to help in reunion planning and promotion. Plus, we're always looking for feedback. We want to hear from you. Send us a note.
Can I bring my pet to Alumni Weekend or Homecoming events?
For the safety and comfort of all guests, only trained service animals are permitted at Alumni Weekend and Homecoming events. Pets, emotional support animals, and companion animals are not allowed unless they are part of an official university program (such as Virginia Tech therapy dogs or demonstrations coordinated with the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine).
Are there items I'm not allowed to bring?
Yes. To help keep all Hokies safe, the following items are prohibited at Alumni Weekend and Homecoming events:
- Weapons of any kind (including firearms, knives, or similar items)
- Outside alcohol or open containers (alcohol may only be served in designated areas)
- Illegal substances, fireworks, or hazardous materials
- Drones or unmanned aerial vehicles (unless pre-approved by the university)
- Bicycles, skateboards, scooters, or similar devices in crowded or restricted event areas
Why do prohibited item policies exist at alumni events?
Our goal is to ensure a welcoming, family-friendly environment for all attendees and to comply with Virginia Tech’s campus safety and liability guidelines. Thank you for helping us create a safe and enjoyable celebration for every Hokie!
