Get Involved
Volunteers play a critical role in making our Alumni Weekend a success. As volunteers, you can give input on reunion programming, get advance details about what’s being planned, and encourage others to attend.
Volunteer opportunities
- Class year reunion committees: These groups are made up of alumni celebrating milestone reunions (fifth through 50th) who are passionate about bringing classmates and friends together for a weekend of fun in Blacksburg. If you are celebrating an upcoming class milestone anniversary, email reunion@vt.edu to get involved.
- Organization and community partners: Alumni Weekend is for reunions of all kinds. If you were involved in an organization or community at Virginia Tech, partner with us to celebrate. Please contact Taylor Moore at tswan70@vt.edu. Take a look at groups celebrating with us this year.
- Alumni ambassadors: If you've already attended the weekend and are an advocate of the program, help us spread the word. Please email Taylor Moore at tswan70@vt.edu.

Volunteer FAQs
Reunion volunteers are critical to the success of the event! As a volunteer, we need you to help inform and encourage your classmates to attend and connect. We also want your input on the event schedule and to help explore opportunities to make it a truly special event. Volunteers are truly alumni ambassadors!
Volunteer committees meet about once per month starting in January and going through June before the reunion. These hour-long meetings allow committee members to connect, discuss progress, offer suggestions, and collaborate. Your level of involvement depends on your schedule. Leveraging your Hokie social network is also helpful!
During Alumni Weekend in June, come to campus and have fun! We do not ask for volunteers to manage registration tables, take out trash, guide traffic, or any other logistical needs. Just be ready to reconnect with classmates and have fun. However, if you are interested in getting involved with day-of logistics, let us know!
In addition to using your own social networks and connections, we offer a volunteer roster to help reach out to classmates. Volunteers will also receive access to our Reunion Volunteer Toolkit, which includes helpful resources, tips, and communication templates to make outreach easy. You can also join the Reunions Virginia Tech Facebook Group for sneak peeks, event updates, and behind-the-scenes looks at our programs!
Making a gift to Virginia Tech is important to the continued success and advancement of the university. We ask that all volunteers make a personally meaningful gift in honor of your milestone reunion to support your class giving goals.
