Tidewater Chapter Student Scholarship

Dear Future Hokie,

Above all, congratulations and welcome to the Virginia Tech family! As one of the over 9,000 Virginia Tech alumni in the Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach areas, I am confident that your time at Virginia Tech will be among the most exciting of your life.   

Our university motto is Ut Prosim or “That I May Serve.”  Through the Tidewater Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association, our members serve not only our alma mater but also our local community.  A portion of that service mission is achieved by assisting local students with first-year college expenses through our scholarship program. In the past five years, our chapter has awarded over $60,000 in scholarships to new Hokies selected from our area.

Application packages must be complete and submitted by Jan. 1.  Finalists will be notified of their scheduled interview times by January 15.  Finalist interviews will be conducted during the evenings in late January at a location to be identified. No alternative interview times will be offered, so please mark your calendars accordingly to minimize potential conflict.  Selected recipients will be notified no later than February 15.
