Roger Moore
Roger Moore, a member of the class of 1964, began his business career at IBM where he worked in sales and sales management. While working at IBM he served 5 years in the Army completing his service as a military intelligence officer stationed at the National Security Agency. He returned to IBM and later worked for AT&T and Northern Telecom where he had senior management positions including President of AT&T Canada and President of Northern Telecom Japan. In 1995, he was recruited to merge two small private companies that became Illuminet Holdings Inc that he took public in 1999. In 2001 Illuminet was acquired by VeriSign Inc where Mr. Moore currently serves as Lead Independent Director. Over the years he has served on a number of private and public company boards and in addition to VeriSign he currently serves on the board of Consolidated Communications Inc.
Moore holds a bachelor of science degree in general science from Virginia Tech and is an active supporter of the university. In addition to the Alumni Association Board he serves on the advisory board for the Dean of the College of Science, the Corps of Cadets board and is completing his service as a director on the Foundation Board.
